BMG Hidden Hitmakers Sample Challenge

In April 2020 I was one of the winners of the BMG Hidden Hit Makers Sample Challenge, awarded in the Dancefloor filler category. The resulting album is a collection of remixed works from the archive of Telemusic, reimagined by 15 different producers. Check out my track ‘Retro Funktion’, a funky rework of a bass riff from legendary French library composer and Voyage bassist Sauveur Mallia.

Greenpeace & DJs For Climate Action- Climate Soundtrack

The Greenpeace and DJs for Climate Action ‘Climate Soundtrack’ was released in November 2021 and generated over $23,000 through Kick-starter. The premise was to create an album using samples from the natural world such as ice melting, waves and trees. The kickstarter offered an assortment of rewards such as t-shirts, the limited run Vinyl and more. The proceeds went towards funding DJs for Climate Action’s work and to communities in parts of the world most affected by climate change, from where the majority of the samples were recorded. The project received considerable support from the dance community with features in Resident Advisor and Mixmag.

Hear my contribution to the album ‘Panthalassa’ alongside some electronic greats including Acid Pauli, Fakear and Mark Farina on all major streaming sights.

Documenta 15 - ‘Heavy Metal’

‘Heavy Metal’ (Released commercially as ‘Gamelan- Documenta Mix’) was created specifically for Lumbung Radio as part of the 2022 Documenta 15 art festival in Kassel, Germany. It was a fusion of world music (predominantly gamelan and South East Asian) and electronic sounds. The title 'Heavy Metal’ was a reference to the material used to create typical Gamelan instruments. The theme of Documenta 15 was ‘Lumbung’, an Indonesian word meaning communal rice barns and the festival explored the principles of lumbung such as resource sharing, collectivity and community.

I created the track to create a sonic connectivity between traditional Indonesian gamelan music and synthesised sound. It is a piece of music that mirrors the interconnected community of Lumbung practice and the wider world.

The Accomplice- Philip Larsen Remix

In 2019 my song ‘The Accomplice’ was given a synthy drum n’ bass rework by Grammy Award wining producer Philip Larsen of Manhattan Clique. Philip has hundreds of credits to his name including remixes for Katy Perry, Far East Movement and Charlie XCX.

Philip said ‘The production inspired so many different directions to go in with a remix. So it felt right to nod towards some early 90s jungle and may days back with DJ SS Rollers Convention and mix it up with the original bass line. Hold tight!’
